Roger A. Kees

Roger A. Kees, age 77, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully, January 4, 2025.

He was born August 30, 1947, in Boston, MA to Galen and Bertha (Severson) Kees. Growing up as a military child, Roger lived many places, including Newfoundland and Florida, before the family settled down on the farm in Durand, WI. He played trombone and managed sports teams at Durand High School before attending UW-Eau Claire.

On a university choir tour to Europe, he fell for Connie Johnson of Chippewa Falls. They were married on November 8, 1969, at Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa. Roger got his master's degree from UW Stout and began his career in education at the Media Development Center at UWEC. He later served as the technology coordinator at Memorial High School before finishing his career helping educators in multiple districts through CESA 10.

Roger enjoyed singing and emceeing with the Eau Claire Male Chorus, camping trips with the wife and kids, and holidays with extended family.

Retirement was filled with service. Over ten years as a Red Cross volunteer, meant deploying all over the country helping disaster victims. As he aged, he bore a striking resemblance to a certain jolly elf in a red suit, and Christmas became a time to spread joy to children of all ages. Roger's years in tech made him the go-to friend for help with all the new-fangled devices, and his best buddy's workshop led him to assist with dozens of projects for family, friends, and the Children's Museum of Eau Claire.

He looked forward to Tuesday breakfast with friends and watching the lake with Connie from his favorite chair.

Roger is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Dan (Colleen) Kees of CA and Sandy (Mike) Moszer of FL; grandchildren, Toby (Abby) and Talia Moszer; brothers, Glenn (Midge) Kees of Oconomowoc, and Jim (Kathy) Kees of Pewaukee; sister, Linda (Rex) Hoover of Durand; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, in the spring of 2025.
