Roger A. Kressin, 74, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer and while under the care of Mayo Hospice.
He was born November 17, 1941 in the town of Woodmohr, Chippewa County to Nina (Hunt) and Arnold Kressin.
Roger grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1959.
On November 15, 1997, he married Norma Woodcock at Zion United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. They resided in the town of Wheaton, where Roger farmed for most of his life. In 2005, he sold the farm and he and Norma moved to a condo in the city of Chippewa Falls, where Roger became the president of their condo association.
Roger was an active and involved member of the community. Over the years, he served as trustee on several church councils, was on many farm boards, was the sexton for the Tilden Lutheran Cemetery and was member of the Chippewa County Board of Directors for two terms.
In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, attending his grandchildren's events, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Fae (Alan Chada) Bilderback of Chippewa Falls, Kailee (Andrew) Gaulrapp of Eau Claire; sons, Mark Kressin, Matthew (Michele) Kressin, all of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Arlene (Joe) Hakes of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Olivia and Eion Kressin, Joshua and Jacob Gaulrapp; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Joshua.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Terri Koca officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and will be donated to the many organizations Roger held close to his heart.
The family would like to express their gratitude and sincere thanks to Dr. Basu and the staff at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center; to the staff of Mayo Hospice; and to the nursing staff at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer for the exceptional care provided to Roger.
