Ronald Thomas

Ronald G. Thomas, 68, of 331 E. Birch St., Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

He was born June 9, 1942 in Chippewa Falls to Lucille (Zandi) and Othar Thomas. He was raised in Chippewa Falls and attended 9th Ward Grade School, Holy Ghost Grade School and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1962.

He was employed at National Food Store and then joined the National Guard in 1965. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

Ron married Desley Meredith on September 10, 1966 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls.

He was employed at Pope & Talbot and then at CT Film/Pliant from February 1967 until retiring in July 2007 after 40 years of service.

Survivors include: his wife, Desley; a son James Thomas of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Gayle (Keith) Bailey of Eau Claire; a brother, Richard (Sue) Thomas of Chippewa Falls; three sisters-in-law, Donna (Roger) Hainstock, Diane (Duane) Schindler, Denise (Bob) Henry; three brothers-in-law, Dale (Mary Jo) Meredith, Daniel (Pam) Meredith, David Meredith; eight grandchildren, Katelyn, Ryan and Kirsten Thomas, Aaron (Fawn) Rapp, Isaac and Jacob Rapp, Marissa and Erika Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Aidan Rapp and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing his stories with everyone. He especially enjoyed the laughter and time spent with his children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Deacon Mark Arnold officiating. Entombment will be in Chapel of Hope Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Friday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

A funeral service for Ronald G. Thomas, 68, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 with Deacon Mark Arnold officiating.

Entombment was in Chapel of Hope Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were: David and Dan Meredith, Jay Chartrand, Kevin McCarthy, Kevin Romundstad and Scott McNamara.
