Rose Marie Balts, 99, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at Care Partners Memory Care in Altoona on Friday, January 20, 2017.
Rose was born on May 31, 1917, in Cobban, WI, to Julius and Mary Gerber. She attended Matott School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Gillette Rubber Company in Eau Claire. She married William Balts of Cadott on November 23, 1938. She was then employed at Falls Dairy Packaging in Jim Falls. She was later divorced and moved to Jim Falls and worked at Montgomery Ward Catalog for four years. She then worked for Northwestern Bank for 14 years, retiring in 1983 and moved to Chippewa Falls.
She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls and Jim Falls Senior Citizens. She loved to dance, play cards, bus tours, and to always be "on the go." Most of all she very much enjoyed being with her loving family.
Rose is survived by her son, Ken (Mary Lou) Balts of La Crosse; two daughters, Shari (Swede) Zwiefelhofer of Bloomer and Sheila (John) Watton-Johnson of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Kristine Mohr, Paul Waller, Col. Keith (Christine) Balts, Linda (Kevin) Harmon, Dana (Mike) Elkin, Derek Watton, and Cole (Miranda Kurkowski) Watton; great-grandchildren, Erin Mohr, Connor, Logan and Luke Harmon, Rachel and Adam Balts, Alec and Luke Elkin; and sister-in-law, Gertrude Gerber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Waller; grandson-in-law, Mike Mohr; brothers, Chris, Alfred "Dick", Emil, and Walter Gerber; and sisters, Martha Roder and Olga Olson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls with a visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the chapel. Rev. Debra Boynton will be officiating. Interment will be in the Countryside Union Cemetery town of Goetz, WI.
