Rose Kempe

Rose A. Kempe, 83, of 11874 57th Ave., Chippewa Falls, town of Wheaton, died Sunday morning, Oct. 17, 2010 at her home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 27, 1928 in Kenner, LA the daughter of Mary (Bua) and John Wool. At the age of three she moved with her family to Freeport, IL, where she was raised. She graduated from Aquin Catholic High School in Freeport in 1947. She was then empolyed at a drugstore and as a waitress in Freeport.

Rose married William Gravenstein on Oct. 28, 1950. They were later divorced. She married William N. "Bill" Kempe Sr. on Aug. 14, 1971 in Freeport. They moved to Chippewa Falls in 1978 where she and her husband owned and operated Kempe's Bar on Canal St., until retiring in 1991.
