Roy was born in Boyceville on March 17, 1920. He was one of seven children born to Bernhard "Ben" and Augusta (Halvorson) Anderson. He was raised on a family farm near Boyceville and attended Pine Grove School through the eighth grade. Roys father passed away when he was 15, so he quit school to help run the family farm. Despite their efforts, they lost the farm during the depression, but were able to purchase another farm in the town of Hallie where he resided the majority of his life.
Roy married Rosemary Soden in 1947 and they raised three children on their family farm in the township of Hallie. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last fall.
In addition to a lifetime of farming, Roy worked at Armours Meat Packing Company in Eau Claire and retired from there in 1981 and continued farming until 2006.
Roys father instilled in him a sense of duty to help support the family. He worked hard on the family farm and maintained close family ties to his sibling and their families all his life. His family knew they could count on Roy to help out in difficult times.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
Roy in survived by his wife, Rosemary; children, Dennis (Irene Talley) Anderson of Chippewa Falls, Cathy (Dave) Yohnk of Maplewood, MN and Roger (Heidi) Anderson of Chadds Ford, PA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
