Ruby W. Maier, 93, of Eau Claire, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at Dove Healthcare West, Eau Claire.
She was born October 9, 1920 in Jim Falls, the daughter of Matilda (Anderson) and Oscar Malison. She attended the Vance School and Chippewa High School.
On May 23, 1942, Ruby married Albert Maier in Jim Falls. They farmed for a time then resided in Elk Mound where they owned and operated Maiers Grocery. They later owned and operated the Farmer Store in Colfax.
After their retirement, Ruby and Al enjoyed 16 years in Green Valley, Arizona. In 2004, Ruby and Al moved to Wisconsin permanently.
They were members of Lake Street United Methodist Church, where Ruby was an active member of the United Methodist Women.
Ruby loved being a grandma and was Grandma Ruby to many, not just her own grandchildren. She was well known for her cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Al Maier of Eau Claire; a daughter, Carol Chrostowski of Bloomer; a son, Ralph (Diane) Maier of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Mike Maier, David (Tamie) Maier, Stacy (Randy) Schaefer, James (Lori) Price and John Price; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jane Malison of CA; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Duane Malison; and two sisters, Donna Young and Ruth Malison.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 13 at Lake Street United Methodist Church, Eau Claire with the Rev. Graham West officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be held from 4 -7 p.m., Tuesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
Memorials in Rubys name may be directed to a youth or childrens organization of your choice.
AFTERSERVICE
A memorial service for Ruby W. Maier, 93, of Eau Claire was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 13 at Lake Street United Methodist Church in Eau Claire. The Rev. Graham West officiated and music was provided by pianist, Karol Hommen and vocalists, Linda Gilbert and Warren Hermodson. Personal reflections were given by family friend, Rev. James Rivers, granddaughter, Stacy Schaefer, grandson, Jim Price and niece, Marian LeCount. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
