Russel A. "Butch" Nelson, 64, of Bloomer, town of Cleveland, died Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.

He was born July 22, 1949 in Stanley to Nellie Campbell and Harland Nelson. He graduated from Bloomer High School.

On April 15, 1967, Butch married his true love, Barbara Engel in Waukon, IA.

They resided in Bloomer, where Butch worked at the paper mill in Cornell.

Butch loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He had a love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Nelson of Bloomer; son, Anthony "Tony" (Laura) of Ladysmith; daughter, Tammy (Matt) Dennis of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Naomi (Charlie Martell) Rufledt, Anthony R. (Blair) Nelson, Missy Nelson, Emily Nelson, Brady Benson, Aleda Nelson, Tristin Nelson, Chloe Benson, Anthony D. Nelson, Amber Nelson, Tilara Nelson, Evan Dennis, Olivia Dennis; great-grandchildren, Kaydin Kelm and Jaiden Nelson; sisters, Joyce (Richard) Bollom, Lois Nazier; brothers and sisters-in-law, Annette Schafer, Gail and Mary Ann Engel, Rodger and Mickie Engel, Duane Engel, and Chuck and Nancy Bresina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Van Gorder and Victoria Gerrits; brother, Carl Nelson; sister-in-law, Charlene Nelson; and brother-in-law Robert Shafer.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 31 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the service at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

AFTERSERVICE

A memorial service for Russel A. Butch Nelson, 64, of Bloomer was held at 5 p.m., Friday, January 31 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiated and music was provided by Christine Hitt.
