Ruth I. Anglemyer, 91, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Dove Healthcare West under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
Ruth was born August 13, 1924 in Interwald, Wisconsin to Stewart and Carrie (Armstrong) Calkins. She grew up in the Iron Mountain, Michigan area and graduated from Kingsford High School. After that she graduated from Marinette County Teachers College and taught grades 1-8 in a one room school in White Rapids, Wisconsin.
On May 10, 1946 she married David Anglemyer in Daggett, Michigan. She continued her teaching career in Milwaukee, Wisconsin teaching various grades and in Medford, Wisconsin teaching first grade. She also taught the "Learning to Read" program at Faith Christian Academy in Stanley, Wisconsin. Ruth loved teaching children to read, even when she wasn't "officially" teaching.
After retirement Ruth worked part time as an assistant librarian at the Stanley Public Library. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, baking, playing board games, and watching birds.
Ruth is survived by her children, David (Kathryn) Anglemyer Jr. of Gilman, Wisconsin, Shirley (Ardo) Arndt of New London, Wisconsin, Deborah Jacobsen of Mishawaka, Indiana and Vincent (Jill) Anglemyer of Gilman, Wisconsin; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; brother, Thomas (Lois) Calkins of Kingsford, Michigan; sister, Elsie Wallace of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband David Sr.; grandson, Todd Mueller; son-in-law, Robert Jacobsen; and brother, Vernon Calkins.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 27 at Grace Baptist Church of Hallie, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Bruce Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.
