Sally L. Glasener, 87, of Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Our House Memory Care in Chippewa Falls under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
She was born October 18, 1925 in Stanley to Linnie (Montgomery) and Raymond Lange. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Faribault, MN and then continued her education at Milwaukee-Downer College, earning a degree in Political Science.
Sally married Paul "Soapy' Glasener on August 23, 1947 at Trinity Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. The couple resided in Chippewa Falls where they raised their children and Sally made their home.
Being very social and having the "gift of gab", Sally enjoyed her friends, family and living life. She and Paul enjoyed traveling and took many wonderful trips together. One of her favorite trips was an annual fishing trip to Canada with friends. She was in many bridge clubs and was a member of the ELKS Ladies. Sally also loved animals and contributed regularly to the Humane Association.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann (Ron) Yountz of Charlotte, NC, Judy Sandstrom of Lake Tomahawk; a son, Mark (Sheri) Glasener of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Judy Drodza of St. Louis, MO; a brother, William (Noreen) Lange of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, Marilyn "Jinx" Smith of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Paul (Jen) Sandstrom of Lake Tomahawk, Justin (Amber) Glasener of Altoona, Paige (Dan Gephert) Glasener of Superior and Nick (Courtney) Nelson of Charlotte, NC; and one great-grandchild due to arrive in May, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul on December 14, 2006; a son-in-law, Dean Sandstrom in Sept. 2012; and two brothers-in-law, Steve Playter and Doug Smith.
A celebration of Sally's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 29 at First Presbyterian Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Katherine Griffis officiating. Spring interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may callfrom 9:30 a.m. untilthe time of service Saturday at the church.
Memorials in Sally's honor are appreciated and may be designated to First Presbyterian Church, the Chippewa County Humane Association or to Irvine Park.
AFTERSERVICE:
A memorial service for Sally L. Glasener, 87, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 29 at First Presbyterian Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Katherine Griffis officiated and music was provided by Barbara Sandford, Erik Anderson, Bruce Miller and Reid Kennedy. Interment will be at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
