Sara K. Hawkins, 43, of 8544 County Hwy X, Chippewa Falls, town of Wheaton, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Chippewa Falls.

She was born October 27, 1967 in Eau Claire to Marian (Stai) and Kenneth Syverson. She was raised in the town of Howard, near New Albertville. She attended Hillcrest Grade School, Chippewa Falls Middle School and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1986, where she lettered in softball, played flute in the marching band and was a member of the Winter Guard. She was employed at the Syverson Home in Eau Claire as a Nursing Assistant and then as Activities Director. She was then employed at Northwest Homecare until 1995.

Sara married Dennis Hawkins on April 3, 1993 at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church in the town of Wheaton. They have resided and farmed in the town of Wheaton since that time. She started and operated Hawkins Hollow in 2000, to further her passion to educate youth about the importance of history and agriculture in their community, which was known for it's ten acre corn maze and "stuff your own scarecrow."

Sara loved taking pictures, especially of flowers, animals, landscapes, spiders and her kids. She collected Indian artifacts, arrowheads and agates. She also enjoyed playing Boggle and was very active with her children and their activities. She was a past member of 4-H and was a Parent Leader at Sunnyside 4-H and she was active in planning Farm/City Days events. She was an active member of Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church, where she was on the Board of Education, Sunday School Teacher and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent.

Survivors include: her husband, Dennis, two daughters Sierra Jo, Cheyanne Marie; two sons, Cody Kenyon, Cade Colton Hawkins; her parents Marian and Ken Syverson of Colfax; two sisters, Katherine Clement of Modesto, CA., Karen (Charles) Goulet of Chippewa Falls; one brother, Dave Syverson of Colfax; her mother-in-law, Sharon Hawkins of Chippewa Falls; three brothers-in-law, Doug (Karin) Hawkins, Dale (Michele) Hawkins, Don (Tammy) Hawkins all of Chippewa Falls; nine nieces and nephews; Nicole, Jordyn, Justin Clement, Cali Goulet, Drew, Deidra, Courtney, Wyatt and Walker Hawkins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 7 at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church, town of Wheaton with Rev. Hal Schroetter officiating. Interment will be in Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Monday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Sara's honor would be appreciated.

A funeral service for Sara K. Hawkins, 43, of 8544 County Hwy X, Chippewa Falls, town of Wheaton, was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 7 at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church, town of Wheaton. The Rev. Hal Schroetter officiated and music was provided by Rev. Hal and Peg Schroetter and Elaine Kragness. During the service, personal reflections were shared by Sara's daughter, Cheyanne. Interment was in Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery and casketbearers included John Schueller, Steve Mueller, Troy Stowell, Kim Mewhorter, Victor Syverson, Bill Simon and Peter Solberg.

Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls is serving the Hawkins family.
