Simone J. King, 91, of Deatsville, AL, formerly of Chippewa Falls died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Prattville Baptist Hospital in Prattville, AL.
She was born February 2, 1922 in London, England the daughter of Jeanne (Etter) and Louis Joseph Pacitti. She was raised in London and Switzerland.
Simone married Frederick Carl King on March 29, 1945 at St. Pauls Church, Edmonton, Middlesex, England. Frederick was serving in the US Army Air Force and she was a Nippy at the Lyons Corner House Tea Shop and Caf in London. Simone became a naturalized United States citizen on May 4 1949 in Chippewa Falls. She and her husband resided in Scotland, Denver, CO and Kansas City, MO while her husband served in the US Air Force. They returned to settle in Chippewa Falls with their family in 1965. Her husband preceded her in death on November 26, 1986. Simone moved to Tomah, WI in 1988 and has resided in Alabama since 2007.
She was a lovable strong willed woman who withstood the London Blitz in WWII, the tornado of 1958 in Chippewa County, cancer in 1984 and a stroke in 2010. She loved knitting, crocheting, movies and classical music. She also loved yellow roses because that is what Fred would always give her.
She will be sadly missed by three sons, Jeffrey (Wendy) King of Plainville, IL, Terrence (Kathy) King of Chippewa Falls, Lawrence (Debra) King of Prattville, AL; her daughter, Jean (Steve) Surguy of New Lisbon WI; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 16 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m., Monday at Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Simones family would like to acknowledge the loving care and assistance provided by the staff at Charlton Rehabilitation and Nursing Home for their care and to Baptist Hospice and Prattville Baptist Hospital, who made our mothers last weeks comfortable.
AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral service for Simone J. King, 91, of Deatsville, AL, was held at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 16 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated. Interment was in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were Russell, Jordan and Kent King, Ryan and Grant Holte and Nathan Kasten.
