Stanley L. "Bud" Meier. 90, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home.

He was born May 16, 1924 in Bloomer to Elfrieda (Donner) and Albert Meier. He graduated from Bloomer High School in 1943.

Following high school, he joined the military and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from June, 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He served in Hawaii and the South Pacific. He was a life member of the VFW and the Disable American Veterans. In 2011, Bud was proud to have been able to go to Washington D.C. on the "Never Forgotten Honor Flight" for WWII veterans.

On May 22, 1948, Bud married Luella "Lou" Jensen in Medford. They resided in Chippewa Falls where he worked as a butcher at Seyforth's SuperValu and Gutknecht's. He then worked at the Northern Center from 1960 until his retirement in May 1990.

Survivors include two sons, David (Jayne) of Crivitz, WI, Dennis (Susan) of Sammamish, WA; and grandchildren, Haley, Hayden and Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lou on April 29, 2006; a son, Daniel in 1967; three sisters, June, in infancy, Ovila and Goldene; and two brothers, Gordon and Lyman.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral chapel.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Tristie Crawford and the entire staff at the Chippewa Manor for taking such good care of their father and grandfather.
