He was born April 25, 1949 in Chippewa Falls to Joan (Jerrold) and Clarence Berg. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1967 and then attended UWEC.

Steve served in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years.

During high school, Steve worked at the SuperValu Grocery Store in Chippewa Falls. During this time he met Kathy and the two married on July 1, 1983 at the Newman Center in Eau Claire.

Steve later moved back to Eau Claire, where he worked as a broker for Baird, and later for Dain Bosworth. He then worked for Country Jam for over 20 years, retiring in 2009 as a partner in the business. He made many wonderful friends through the business and enjoyed his time working with them.He will be dearly missed.

Steve was a great man that loved his family, making many sacrifices for them. He touched and changed many lives through his love of people. These traits of generosity and understanding will be cherished as an example to live by for those of us that remember him so fondly.

It matters not how a man dies, but how he lives.
