Steven M. Young passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his home in Marshfield.

He was born August 22, 1954 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Della (Klahn) and Eugene Young. Steve grew up in a Navy family with six siblings traveling from one Navy base to another from Virginia, Indiana, Rhode Island and finally to Chippewa Falls.

Steve graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1972. He graduated from WWTC in La Crosse as an operating room technician and worked for Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. He went back to school at UW Stout where he earned his BA in Industrial Education with a minor in Driver's Education. He taught in Wilmot and Clayton before going back to Stout for his Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling. While studying for his Master's, he worked at Darley Pump in Chippewa Falls. He then worked as a guidance counselor in Blanchardville, Wisconsin for two years. He then moved to Marshfield where he worked for the Auburndale School District until his retirement in 2010. He continued to work as a driver's education instructor in Marshfield until his time of death.

Steve met Nancy Goetz while they were both working at St. Joseph's Hospital. They were married on August 16, 1975.

Among Steve's many talents was he was an amazing carpenter. He could build or fix anything. His most recent project was an awesome treehouse complete with electricity for his surrogate grandchildren. He was also known for his homemade candy at Christmas. Everyone wanted to be on his list. He was the first to lend a hand and the last to ask for help. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; siblings, Jim (Carol Marchel) Young, Mike (Sally) Young and their daughter, Dorie, Paula (Todd LaBreck) Young and their daughters, Emily and Claire, Cyndi Young, Lori Brown, Brian Young; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jan Goetz and their sons, Doug and John; an uncle, aunts, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Della Young; his in-laws; and many aunts and uncles.

At Steve's request, he will be cremated and no services will be held. A private burial will be held at a later date.
