Sue Brandt

Sue Brandt, 88, formerly of Lake Villa, IL passed away on December 14, 2022, surrounded by family at her home in Altoona.

She was born in Waukegan, IL on February 13, 1934 to the late George and Mary Eiffler. Tolerant wife of the quirky William (Bill) Brandt, nurturing Mother of Karen and Mark (Janice Lemminger), fun-seeking Grandmother of Brianna, Jenna, Jared, Shannon, Abby, Zak, caring Great Grandmother to Josie, Brody, Trey, and friend to all that crossed her path.

Sue spent her days as a top-notch nurse at Lake Forest Hospital where she actively served for 40-plus years. She specialized in the Labor and Delivery unit where she ultimately landed as Director of Maternity. Sue was an ideal leader, as she guided with an innovative and adaptable style that stood the test of time. Her ability to listen first, and then problem-solve with ease made her well-liked by colleagues. Sue was never the first to speak or loudest in the room, yet her words made the most impact. On her days off from the hospital, Sue could be found enjoying lake life. She enjoyed boating, windsurfing and long sessions of waterskiing.

Sue was an avid traveler and adventure seeker. She went parasailing and rode in hot air balloons. Sue dominated every playing card table and would not let even the cutest of grandchildren win at a board or card game without a fair match. On Sundays, she rarely missed a day at church. She was an active Parishioner at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lake Villa. There were not any limits for Sue, as she lived her life to it’s absolute fullest. We can celebrate her by embracing our strengths and going for it all, just as Sue did. She will always be remembered in such a special way. Rest peacefully Sue.

Visitation will take place Wednesday December 21, 2022 from 9:00 - 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Church 135 S. Milwaukee Ave Lake Villa, IL. Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Entombment at Ascension Cemetery.
