Thaddeus A. "Ted" Witt, 73, of Chippewa Falls, Village of Lake Hallie, formerly of Taylor, MI, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer while under the care of Mayo Clinic Health System Home Care and Hospice.
He was born February 12, 1939 in Detroit, MI to Anna (Bugaj) and Simon Witt. He grew up in Detroit and attended school there.
Ted proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1964.
On February 8, 1964, he married the love of his life, Sheryl Hindle in Detroit. The couple lived most of their married life in Taylor, MI, where Ted worked as a truck driver for Roth Trucking. While living in Taylor, Ted was an active member of the community. Ted started coaching little league baseball when his son was a boy and out of enjoyment, continued coaching for several years beyond. Ted and Sheryl moved to Chippewa Falls in April, 2007 to be near their daughter and her family.
Ted was well known for being a jokester. His sense of humor brought light to many situations and his comedy will be missed. He enjoyed polka dancing and loved listening to classical music. He also loved sitting in his back yard in the sun watching the Packer football games with his daughter and son-in-law every week and loved his dog, Baylee dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl; a daughter, Debra (Eric) Dye, all of Chippewa Falls; a son, Steven (Michelle) Witt of Taylor, MI; two sisters, Rose Witt of Detroit, Frances Sywak of Dearborn Heights, MI; four grandchildren, Thaddeus "Ted" Dye, Matthew Dye, both of Chippewa Falls, Kyra and Lance Witt of Taylor, MI; nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 27 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Rick Hoyme of Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls, officiating.
