Thomas F. "Tom" Reiter, 81, of 13294 195th St., Jim Falls, town of Anson, died Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born March 8, 1933 in Jim Falls to Mayme (Bernier) and Anton "Tony" Reiter. He was raised in Jim Falls and attended Jim Falls Grade School. He graduated from McDonell High School in 1951. He entered the U.S. Navy in February 1952 and served until being honorably discharged in December 1955. He was then employed at the Falls Dairy in Jim Falls. He began his employment with the U.S. Post Office in Jim Falls as a rural mail carrier in 1962. He was appointed Post Master of the Jim Falls Post Office in 1980, serving in that capacity until his retirement in March 1999.

Tom married Linda Hutchinson on May 23, 1970 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jim Falls. They have resided in Jim Falls since that time.

Tom had a strong faith in God and was a wonderful witness for Jesus. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his grandchildren, who were his world. He will be remembered for his smile, his laugh and his jokes. He was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan and also will be fondly remembered for his love of playing baseball and was a great coach to many players.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters, Jodi (Jim) Fahrman of Fall Creek, Nikki (Jason) Hurt of Chippewa Falls; two sons, Rick Reiter, Tim "Gibby" (Valerie) Reiter all of Chippewa Falls; one brother, Dennis "Dugan" Reiter of Chippewa Falls; one sister, Joanne Hancox of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Paige Reiter, Cameron, Caitlyn and Conner Fahrman, Grace and Molly Reiter, Evan and Aidan Hurt; nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Toni Rufledt, Monica "Mickey" McDonell, Doris Wistein, Audrey Reiter; two brothers, Jim and Bob Reiter.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 11 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church with Pastor Jim Woldhuis and Pastor Jim Gale officiating. Military rites conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date in Copp Cemetery, town of Anson.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

In honor of Tom's love of golf and the Reiter Cup, the family requests that friends and family wear Reiter Cup shirts to the visitation and / or funeral.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Thomas F. "Tom" Reiter, 81, of Jim Falls, was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 11 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church, Chippewa Falls. Pastor Jim Woldhuis and Pastor Jim Gale officiated. Music was provided by Pastor Jim and Bernice Gale and Marcie McKeefe. Personal reflections were given by son, Tim "Gibby" Reiter and daughter, Jodi Fahrman. Casket bearers were grandson, Cameron Fahrman; nephews, Matthew Downey, Mike and Tom Rufledt; sons-in-law, Jim Fahrman and Jason Hurt; honorary casket bearers were grandchildren, Paige, Grace and Molly Reiter, Caitlyn and Conner Fahrman, Evan and Aidan Hurt. Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Nicole Johnson and Thomas Eder Jr. bugled "Taps." Interment will be at a later date in Copp Cemetery, town of Anson.
