VeeAnn Solum

VeeAnn A. Solum, 70, of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully March 19, 2018 at the Chippewa Manor under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.

She was born September 19, 1947 in Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of Elmer and Ardis (Schacko) Wacholz. She grew up in rural Alden, Minn. and graduated from Alden High School in 1965, later graduating from Mankato Commercial College in 1966. She worked for Wilson Company in Albert Lea from 1966-1968.

She married David Solum on October 17, 1970 at Mansfield Lutheran Church in rural Alden. They made their home in Forest Lake, Minn. In 1971, David worked for Control Data/ETA Systems/Super Nova. Moving to Chippewa Falls in 1991, David worked for Cray Research/SGI/Maga Foods.

VeeAnn enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening, Willing Workers at church and volunteer work at the Senior Center. She also enjoyed taking road trips in the summer months. Her biggest joy was her family, always putting them first in her life.

VeeAnn was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls and had a strong faith, reading and studying the Bible daily and was ready to take her Savior’s hand.

VeeAnn is survived by her husband, David; son, Ethan Solum of Albert Lea Minn. and his special friend Audra Smalley of Austin, Minn.; grandchildren, Emily, Abbie, Adam and Aaron Solum; foster sister, Ruby (Madsen) Gilbertson of Baldwin, Wis.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Jean Solum of Owatonna, Minn., sister-in-law, Mary (Solum) Frisbie of Albert Lea, Minn.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glen and Judy Oelerking of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and brother-in-law, Barry (Kristine) Heine of Albert Lea, Minn; aunt, Juanice “Dotty” Smith of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Chester and Ardine Solum; sister-in-law, Diane (Solum) Heine; and brother-in-law, Gary Solum.

The first memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at Christ Lutheran Church, 467 E. Colome St. Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Rev David F. Johnson will be officiating.

A second memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, 2210 E Main St, Albert Lea, MN 56007, with a visitation beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the chapel. Rev Donald Rose will be officiating.
