Vera C. Weaver, 62, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at home while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

She was born October 28, 1949 in Jump River to Ellen (Olson) and Edward James. She grew up on her family's farm and graduated from Gilman High School in 1967. Following high school, she continued her education at the Medical Institute of Minnesota. After finishing her internship at the Sparta Hospital, she moved to Chippewa Falls to take a position as a medical laboratory technician at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she worked for 40 years, retiring on October 30, 2009.

Vera married James Weaver on June 8, 1978 in Chippewa Falls, where they have resided since that time.

From early on as a child, Vera was an avid horse lover. In her later years, she begangardening. Her vegetable andflower gardens were something to be admired.

Vera loved nature andnurtured all God's creatures that came under her care, even mending a robinwith a broken wing back to health.

Fishing is also something she enjoyed. Even if the fish weren't biting, she enjoyed listening to the loons and watching the eagles.

Traveling and family time at the cabin also broughtgreat joy to her life. Every summer taking the family on a special trip, mainly to the Big Horn Mountains at her children's request.

Her granddaughters were the light of her life. She enjoyed her extra special alone time with them,especially taking them to the "zoo park," and showing them the joys of nature.

Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered most for her thoughtful, loving, compassionate and selfless nature.

Survivors include her husband, James of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Mary (Justin) Aylward of Esko, MN; two sons, James (Stacy) Weaver of Medford, Daniel Weaver of Salt Lake City, UT; three grandchildren, Skylar and Sydney Aylward, and Olivia Weaver; and her canine companion, Jake.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dick L. James.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 31 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain for St. Joseph's Hospice, officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials in Vera's honor may be directed to the Chippewa County Humane Association or to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.

AFTERSERVICE:

A memorial service for Vera C. Weaver, 62, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 31 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated the service and a eulogy was given by Vera's son-in-law, Justin Aylward. Vera's friend and co-worker, Marlys Daniels shared personal reflections.
