Verner R. White, 97, of the town of Lafayette, Chippewa Falls, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Lake Hallie Memory Care in the village of Lake Hallie.

He was born August 9, 1918 in the town of Lafayette to Minnie (Frerking) and Robert White. He was raised in the town of Lafayette on the family farm. He enlisted in the US Army from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He served during WWII, in the Aleutian Islands for two years of service and then served in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany.

On March 23, 1946, he married the love of his life, Lillian Comerford in Stillwater, MN. They resided in the town of Lafayette and Verner worked at Johnson Lassona Plastics as a machinist for 35 years.

He enjoyed being outdoors, especially camping, fishing or riding his tractor and doing yard work. He and Lillian also enjoyed going on bus tours together, where they met many friends.

Verner was a longtime, dedicated member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church in the town of Seymour.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian; daughter, Judith (Wayne) Dubberke; sons, Thomas White, Robert (Billie) White; a sister, Marie Webb; a brother, Paul (Louise) White; two sisters-in-law, Betty Hudson and Gloria (Dick) Dell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Kathie White; great-grandson, Tyler Dubberke; a brother, Clifford White; a sister, Irene Moe; and brother-in-law, Robert Moe.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 23 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce officiating. Military honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will immediately follow the service at the church.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Interment will be held this spring at Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette, Chippewa County.
