Vyonne B. Carlsten, 83, of Chippewa Falls died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire.
She was born October 17, 1930 in Minot, ND, the daughter of Arvella (Olson) and Fred Baehm.
In 1949, Vyonne married John M. Carlsten in Minot, ND. John was in the military and Vyonne as a new bride, joined him in France and later spent many family vacations traveling across the country visiting National Parks and Monuments. They moved to Chippewa Falls in 1973, where Vyonne continued her catering business that she had begun in 1960, in the making and decorating of cakes for weddings and other life celebrations. She retired in 1999. Besides being a great cook and delighting in making meals for anyone and everyone, Vyonne enjoyed lengthy conversations, traveling, and gambling; taking many trips with John to Las Vegas. Their most memorable and special trip was to Egypt and the Holy Land.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include a son, John Jeffrey (Brenda) Carlsten of Chippewa Falls; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Arlene Baehm; two brothers, Duane and Roland Baehm; and her husband John on May 16, 2012.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 15 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
