Walter W. Deuel Jr., 86, of Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center.
He was born July 6, 1929 in Chippewa Falls to Lillian (Lange) and Walter W. Deuel Sr. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1947.
Following high school, Walter moved to Milwaukee where he worked for the Milwaukee Road as a switchman. He entered the US Army in 1951 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1953. He then went back to work at Milw. Road and attended UW-Milwaukee, graduating in 1958 with a BS in Economics.
On January 26, 1958, he married Frances E. Paulson at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. They resided in Racine, where Walter worked as a claims agent for the Milwaukee Railroad, and later for Soo Line Railroad. He retired in 1990 and moved back to Chippewa Falls, where he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Chippewa Falls VFW.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Deuel of Minneapolis, MN, Suzanne (Robert) Soldner of Madison; a son, Gregory (Patti) Deuel of Racine; a brother, Richard (Patty) Deuel of Wauwatosa; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Melin and Doris Paulson, both of MN; six grandchildren, Luke, Joshua, Nicholas, Shawon (Becki), Jason (Emily) and Rylee; and two great-granddaughters, Lexington and Emerson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Frances on January 6, 2002.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. T. Clinton Stark of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral chapel.
