Walter C. "Wally" Knecht Jr., 76, of Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Rutledge Home Assisted Living in Chippewa Falls.

Wally was born May 16, 1940 in Chippewa Falls to Walter Sr. and Geraldine (McLaughlin) Knecht. He attended school in Chippewa Falls. Following high school, Wally began his lifelong career in landscaping, starting in tree service. He later went on to own and operate his own landscaping business.

He is survived by two sons, Pastor Brian (Marsha) Cole of Stanley, Jeffrey (Angie) Knecht of Chippewa Falls; siblings, Kenneth (Mae) Knecht of Holcombe, Henry (Kathleen) Knecht of West Allis, Alvin (Marie) Knecht of Plymouth, MN, Louis Dovas of Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Isaiah, Dylan, Lance, Tina and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Serenity and Jack; brothers-in-law, Myron Marko and Bob Johnson, both of Chippewa Falls; dear friends and caregivers, Dale and Arlene Potts of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Teddy, Beverly, Evelyn and Cherry Lou.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 12 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Wally's son, Pastor Brian Cole of Faith Free Church in Stanley, officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
