Walter J. "Walt" Schwetz, 96, of 19821 105th Ave., Cadott, died Wednesday evening, May 26, 2010 at Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls.
He was born December 24, 1913 in Cadott the son of Cora (Ellenson) and Joseph Schwetz. He was raised in Jim Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1932. He then served in the U.S. Army during WW II from November 25, 1941 until being honorably discharged as a Staff Sargeant on October 29, 1945. He served in the campaigns at Normandy, Ardennes, Northern France and the Rhineland where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
He married Marjorie E. Bainter on April 10, 1943 in Cadott. They resided in Jim Falls where he was a auto/diesel mechanic with his brother, Bud, at the City Service Station in Jim Falls. He and his wife moved to Calif. for one year in 1957 and then returned to Jim Falls where he was employed at the Fanetti Garage. He retired in 1978.
