Wayne C. Hansen, 71, of Chippewa Falls, passed away April 6, 2013 from a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 4, 1941 in Milwaukee to Lenore (Schultz) and George Hansen. He graduated from Milwaukee Boys Technical School.

On November 23, 1963, Wayne married the love of his life, Carol Gundy. They Resided in Elk Mound before moving to Chippewa Falls in 1992. Wayne worked as the plant engineer at AMPI for 30 years. After three years of retirement, Wayne went back to work part time at the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls working in the maintenance department.

Wayne enjoyed working on remodeling projects, especially if the projects involved working alongside his two best friends, who were also his brothers. Wayne loved spending time with his family and relaxing at their home away from home up North.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Carol of Chippewa Falls; daughters, Kelly (Dan) Connolly of Elk Mound, Diane (Bob) Short of Chippewa Falls; a son, David (Amber) Hansen of Katy, TX; his mother, Lenore Hansen of Wild Rose, two brothers, Jerome (Sue) Hansen of Wausau, Lawrence (Betzy) Hansen of Green Bay; grandchildren, Dayna and Devin Connolly of Elk Mound, Ethan and Ryan Short of Chippewa Falls, Kaylee Hansen of Katy, TX; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Hansen.

A memorial service will be held as 3 p.m., Saturday, April 13th at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Rick Hoyme of Central Lutheran Church officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m., Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Wayne's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Naqvi, Nancy, the staff at Sacred Heart Cancer Center, and St. Joseph's Hospice. Your compassion and care will not be forgotten.
