SERVICE

Wayne C. Myers, 72, of Chippewa Falls, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on July 1, 2014, following a three year battle with cancer.

Wayne was born in Trotwood, OH, to Calvin and Virginia (Landis) Myers on October 4, 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Benner as an electronic technician, receiving his honorable discharge in 1965. He then began a new job in California with the Xerox Corporation, an occupation that would last for 27 years and take him from California to Minneapolis to the Eau Claire area. He later worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for the Postal Service Bulk Mail Center, retiring in 2003. In his retirement he was employed part-time for Pet Food Plus and Paws and Claws.

It was while living in California that he met and married his wife, Carolyn, who survives him. They were married on April Fools' Day in 1966, creating lots of joke material for friends and family over the 48 years of their marriage.

Wayne was a man of many talents, such as working with wood. He designed many lovely pieces of furniture in his woodshop, and enjoyed being surrounded by his tools. He was a true handyman, and could fix almost anything. He also loved being in the north woods during deer season and spending time in the hunting "shack" with family and friends, creating life-long memories. One of his greatest joys was the six week trip he and Carolyn took to Alaska with their trailer in 2008, traveling over remote roads in some of the most scenic places on earth.

Wayne is survived by his wife Carolyn; a daughter, Deanna (Marty) Phillips; and son Scott (Rebecca) Myers. He is further survived by his sister Barbara (Paul) Turner and brother Larry (Joyce) Myers. Other survivors include a favorite aunt, Kittie Grill, who faithfully prayed for him over the years, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Duane Horn and Marvin and Shirley Capper; nieces and nephews; and two step-grandchildren, Neveah and Faith DeBoer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 9 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church, 531 E. South Ave., Chippewa Falls with Pastor Jim Woldhuis officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 2 p.m. at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.

Wayne fought a courageous fight against the cancers that beset him, trusting in God through it all, and always finding hope in His Word. Because he had placed his trust in Jesus Christ, he knew that NOTHING could separate him from for the love of God, and that he would spend eternity with Him.

The family is grateful for the very fine care of the Mayo Clinic Hospice staff.

Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Chippewa Valley Bible Church.
