William E. Kucera, 60, of Cadott, town of Sigel, died Friday, October 5, 2012 at his home after a short eight week battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones and under the care of Mayo Health System Hospice.
He was born August 6, 1952 in Chippewa Falls to Rose (Motycka) and Charles Kucera. He graduated from Cadott High School in 1971.
Following high school, Bill worked on the family farm in the town of Goetz, then at Ike's in Stanley, a woodworking shop. He then worked at Huffcutt Concrete for three years and as a landscaper at Circle M Nursery in Chippewa Falls, until his cancer diagnosis in August.
He was proud to be a member of Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include his fiance, Jane Roycraft of Cadott; Jane's sons, Ben Roycraft of Barron and Matt (Kristin) Roycraft of New Auburn; sisters, Anna Hager of Cadott, Rosemary (Rodney) Kruger, Barb (Tom) Schmitt, all of Eau Claire, Carol (Mike) Steel of Chippewa Falls; brothers, Frank (Katie) Kucera of Chippewa Falls, Tom (Ellie) Kucera of Cadott, Charles Kucera Jr. of Cornell; Jane's parents, Clement and Bertha Goettl of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Roger Hager.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 9 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Rick Hoyme officiating. Burial will be at a later date in North Catholic Cemetery, Bloomer.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, October 8 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Bill's favorite pastimes were woodworking, fishing, landscaping and playing with his pets, Daisy, Gus and Tiger. He enjoyed Sundays at his mother's home with his family, until her passing in 2010. He also enjoyed making kolaches and Christmas cookies. He loved going to parks with Jane and spending time with her two sons. He will be dearly missed.
AFTERSERVICE
A funeral service for William E. Kucera, of Cadott, town of Sigel was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Rick Hoyme officiated and music was provided by Kristine Hitt. Casket bearers were Kevin and Nathan Hager, Mark and Travis Kruger, Matt and Jason Schmitt. Interment will be at a later date in North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.
