William Steven Sander, "Steve" passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
He was born on September 18, 1954 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls, the son of William S. and Eilleene M. Sander. Steve grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1973.
Steve served honorably in the U.S. Army from February 1977 until February 1981. During the time of his service, he was promoted to the rank of corporal.
Steve later moved to Eau Claire, where he lived until his passing.
He is survived by three sisters, Dawn Schemenauer of Madison, Ramona (Joe) Simonet of River Falls, Jackie Sander (Doug Atchison) of Eau Claire; nieces and nephews, Jarrod (Sarah) Schemenauer of San Diego, CA, Kristofer DeSmith of River Falls, Cody Atchison of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Misty (Darrell) Vajgrt of Chippewa Falls, Meranda Simonet of Sayulita, Mexico and Casey Atchison of Eau Claire. Steve is also a great-uncle to Andrew Beaudette of Chippewa Falls, Beck and Max Schemenauer of San Diego, CA, and Finn DeSmith of River Falls. He will be sadly missed by his faithful companion, Bear Dog and by his very special friend whom he loved as his own son, Marcus Crist.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, April 6 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Monsignor Edmund Klimek of Sacred Heart Hospital, officiating.
Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel.
A private interment with military honors will take place at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
AFTERSERVICE
A memorial service for William Steven Sander, "Steve",57, of Eau Claire was held at 7 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2012 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Monsignor Edmund Klimek of Sacred Heart Hospital officiated and family members shared personal reflections.
Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie. Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Thomas Eder Jr. bugled taps.
